South Korean Hwang Bun-hee and her neighbours dragged a mock coffin, along with yellow oil drums emblazoned with radiation warning signs, to protest against their government’s plan to increase nuclear power generation.

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol has pushed for nuclear power to overtake coal in order to help meet climate targets and provide energy security. By 2030, the country wants nuclear energy to make up more than 30 per cent of its power generation, up from 27 per cent.

South Korea currently has 24 reactors concentrated in 4 locations. Some 5 million people reportedly live within 30 kilometres (18.6 miles) of the plants.
