US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is the highest-profile elected US official to visit Taiwan in more than 25 years. While her visit courted Beijing's wrath, Pelosi said that she and other members of Congress in her delegation showed they will not abandon their commitment to the self-governing island. For further analysis on the visit that has heightened tensions with China, FRANCE 24 is joined by Paul Jobin, Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of Sociology, Academia Sinica in Taiwan. He was very moved by Pelosi's press conference this morning, stating, "I think she sent very clear messages of very strong support to Taiwan and I guess this went straight to the heart of the majority of the Taiwanese people."
